HTML Writer 0.9 Beta 4a -- Kris Nosack.

Found: http://lal.cs.byu.edu/people/nosack

Overview:

Nice features Found in this package include:

Document Templates with Prompts
This program includes a very nice template facility for creating new pages. Prompts can be embedded into a standard format to be used when creating new documents. The prompts are used to provide dialog boxes to the user, and uses the responses to fill in the document during creation. Four templates are can be assigned and easily accessed at anytime.
Complete Link and In-line image Dialogs
The program offers a very nice link dialog box which includes a URL building (with a very complete listing of URL types) dialog and file browsing capability. In addition, placing name anchors is quickly done using a simple dialog, which I found more convenient than using a general purpose link dialog box.
Clean, Easy to User Interface
The menus are arranged logically, with similar element grouped together (HTML menu includes "forms", "style", "paragraph, "list", etc. submenus). This simplifies document creation for "new" HTML authors (for example, the term and definition tags for a definition list are indented under the definition list menu item). The toolbar is clean and well laid out. Displaying the tags in the status bar when the mouse is over a button is a nice touch.

Missing/Poorly Implemented Features:

No User Customization
There is no way to add new tags to the program. Only document templates can be created by the user. The lack of customization is a definite minus when considering the next point.
No HTML 3.0 Support
Users who want to use 3.0 tags will need to be good typist, since there is no customization or macros available.

Conclusion:

This is a solid performer which is easy to use. The document template feature is well done and is a good reason to keep this editor around even if another is your primary tool. If you don't need HTML 3.0 or anything other than the standard tags, this package is a good package to try.
